Michaela's disease process

On March 29th, 2004 Michaela wrote the following course of illness in the forum (Michaela has released it for publication on this page):

Hello

I would like to tell you my story.

When I was 18 years old (today I am 38 years old) I started having problems in my right wrist. I couldn't even hold a ballpoint pen with it. I also went to the doctor a short time later. An x-ray explained the cause of the pain. MOONBONE NECROSIS.

Only there was nothing left of the moonbone, except a few crumbs. The scaphoid bone was also affected.

At that time the doctors wanted to perform an arthrodesis right away. But I was lucky, I found a doctor (privately, mind you, thank God, I had additional insurance) who put me in a silicone plastic.

I was happy. The hand was only slightly restricted in movement. I worked with it in nursing for 15 years.

But then, the implant became unstable. Then it started! The pain was back! ... Inactivity of the wrist for 4 weeks .. Denervation ... nothing worked .. it got worse and worse. What remained

Arthrodesis (stiffening) ... My job was over! They also told me that we would do a partial arthrodesis, with cancellous bone ... so a piece of bone from the pelvis. The operation went very well. But after a few weeks, the first nail came out of my hand. They removed it from me under local anesthesia. They couldn't get to the second one under local anesthesia, since I was pregnant we let him inside first. But the hand still hurt ... so back to the hospital ... with an anesthetic under the armpit they removed this nail as well. Well I thought it was good. As long as I don't do anything with my hand, it's okay too.

Since I started my retraining from the BfA, since I am no longer allowed to work in the profession I learned, I retrain to become an office clerk, it has got worse again.

A few days ago I was at the Münster University Hospital for hand surgery ... he looked at the X-ray and just said (brackets are not used to stiffen) .. I thought it was a partial stiffening because she told me that at the time have, but it was a complete stiffening now the doctor in Munster explained to me.

You have only stiffened the right wrist bones and released the left ones, but now my hand has sagged to the left .. that is, it hangs down on the left side .. and is bent very crooked to the left.

I still have PAIN as soon as I stress them .. even if I just sit at the computer and write or do something around the house. Window cleaning or any other heavy household chores are no longer possible.

Now you want to insert a plate which you want to connect with the index and middle finger so that the hand comes a little higher on the left side and becomes a little straighter.

I hope it will get a little better then.

Michaela
